Geography department of A.V. College came into existence in 1976. The department has achieved several milestones and the department is fortunate to have some eminent personalities such as Mr. Nagesh Pagare and Mrs. Sangita Tawde. These eminent scholars led down the foundation of Geography in the college.
Geography is taught for F.Y.J.C and S.Y.J.C courses. students have to study physical geography for F.Y.J.C and human geography for S.Y.J.C. throughout the year department is active. along with class teaching department takes efforts for students over all department.

1) In the last 3 years the trend to choose Geography as an optional subject in 12th Science is seen and number of science students opting for Geography have increased in a large number. This can be considered as a success of the department.
(B) Students :
2019-20 batch student Olvia Coelho got 98 marks in HSC examination.
2019-20 batch student Rashi Jain got 97 marks in HSC examination.
Changes have been made in Practical Geography too as per the contemporary time.
11th class students measure area and its dimensions with the use of GPS technology.
12th class students have to use the Balbharti App for doing surveying. this will help students to get acquainted with the latest technology. also students will study how to apply statistical techniques to study human variables. students will understand how to use them in analysis and drawing conclusions.

2.Topographical maps:
maps and atlases are the backbone of geography. the department holds ane of the best collection of SOI topographical maps.
